Biography
Sher Rynn graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Malaya in 2019. She completed her pupillage in our firm under the guidance of our Consultant, Ms Sitpah Selvaratnam and Managing Partner, Mr. Alan Gomez.
Sher Rynn has been active in commercial and corporate disputes. She assisted senior counsel on matters involving shareholders disputes, oppression petitions and multi-jurisdictional probate disputes involving ownership of shares of a public company before the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Federal Court.
As junior counsel in matters involving breaches of directors’ fiduciary duties, Sher Rynn has assisted in successfully obtaining injunction orders to restrain the wrongful holding of general meetings of a company and the winding-up of companies. She also has experience in trust law, having recently assisted in the first Malaysian case dealing with the duties of directors of a company limited by guarantee that is, at the same time, a charitable trust.
Sher Rynn also has a keen interest in shipping and assisted in maritime disputes and advisory work. Her passion in this field dates back to her university days, where she represented University of Malaya in the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot Competition for 3 consecutive years and was awarded the Runner up Best Oralist in 2018. She was also an award winner in the Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot Competition. Prior to joining the firm, Sher Rynn was also a Fulbright scholar, studying constitutional law and 1st Amendment rights in the United States.
