Biography
Haikaldin has experience in construction, engineering and insolvency disputes and land matters.
His broad construction practice encompasses claims relating to payment, delay and disruption, negligence, and loss and expense. He regularly acts as junior counsel in high value and complex disputes, in addition to acting as Counsel in several construction disputes in the lower courts. He also has substantial experience in adjudication proceedings under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act, 2012.
Haikaldin’s more recent experience includes acting as junior counsel in a RM 28 million loss and expense claim at the High Court relating to a fallen MRT viaduct span which resulted in fatalities, as well as in a land dispute brought by a highway concessionaire involving negligence and fraud allegations against multiple parties. He also represented a work package contractor of an infrastructure project in an adjudication proceeding in which the sums in dispute exceed RM 200 million.
Prior to joining the Firm, Haikaldin was an in-house senior legal advisor to a public listed construction and civil engineering company and its group of companies. He oversaw conduct of the Group’s litigation matters in addition to advising the Group on its various corporate and commercial transactions.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia, and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2014.
