Biography

Ahmad Azhad graduated from the University of Malaya in 2022. He underwent his pupillage at the Firm under the tutelage of our Shipping and Admiralty Partner, Rahayu Mumazaini. During that time, Azhad also assisted other Partners and Associates in a wide variety of disputes, including shipping and maritime, marine and trade insurance, commercial, and land disputes and cases involving the duties of directors and agents.

Azhad is highly interested in securities and competition law, and is involved in several competition briefs in which the firm represents the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC).

In his previous work undertaken before joining the firm, Azhad was involved in the drafting of Bills at both Federal and State Legislative level. He also contributed as a research assistant to the first statutory interpretation textbook in the country, which was published by Thomson Reuters Sweet & Maxwell in 2023 and is titled “Statutory Interpretation in Malaysia”.

During his undergraduate studies, Azhad was conferred the ‘Best Student in Competition Law Subject Award’ by the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) in 2021. He was also a recipient of the UM Faculty of Law Dean’s Award for achieving outstanding academic grades.
